    Estates General Convens
    The monarch hasn't called the Estates General in 175 years. A mahor problem they faced was how represenation was going to be equal among the estates.
  • National Assembly declared

    National Assembly declared
    The Third Estate and members of the third estate declared themselves as the National Assembly. This was a way to try to make the meetings more effective they were first called the Communes.
  • Storming the Bastille

    Storming the Bastille
    Villagers and peasant stormed the Bastille looking for gunpowder to fight the French army. The Bastille was a prison where unspeakable harm and murders occured.
  • Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen issued

    Famous lines in the Declaration of the Rights of Man:
    Men are born and remain free and equal in rights
    Society has the right to require of every public agent an account of his administration.
  • Louis XVI executed

    Louis XVI executed
    Louis put on trial in December of 1792 he is accused with treason and is later executed. From an eyewitness his last words were:'I die innocent of all the crimes laid to my charge; I Pardon those who have occasioned my death; and I pray to God that the blood you are going to shed may never be visited on France.' however no one could hear him due to the loud playing of the drums.

    Maximilien Robespierre assumes leadership of Commitee of Pubic Safety
    Once a person who despised the death penatly now said "To punish the oppressors of humanity is clemency; to forgive them is barbarity." He created the Great Terror with so many killings, he now thought the people should fear him and the government.
  • Robespiere is guillotined

    Robespiere is guillotined
    Robespiere falls to the same fate as his former king as wells as the lives of so many others that he caused. Pior to his execution Robespiere tried commiting suicide however failed and suffered a bullet to the jaw. While other two of his collegues where succesful in their suicide attempts.

    Napoleon Bonaparte siezes power
    After returning back from Egypt where he was spending time on a campaign. He first turns the French from a Directory to a Consulate type of government. He arranged the French miltary where he was able to become quite succesful with them.
  • Defeat at the Battle of Waterloo

    Defeat at the Battle of Waterloo
    After being exiled from France due to the invasion of Russia which didn't help the French Army, Napoleon escaped back to France where the people let him in with open arms. However in a battle of France along with their allies againsit Britain and Prussia the French lost in a day long battle. This caused Napoleon to be exiled again, however this time he didn't return.
