    The French Revolution Begins
    The French Revolution began with the Estates-General being broguht together. At this meeting of nobles called together by the king, Louis XVI, three nobles were fighting over their respective powers. Then several people from the third estate created the National Assembly thus beginning the French Revolution.

    When the National Assembly attempted, the king closed down the meeting hall. Because the weather was not allowing for a meeting outdoors, the Assembly met in a tennis court, and swore the Tennis Court Oath where they swore t keep meetng until they had a constitution.

    The Storming of the Bastille is a ery important and widely recognized part of the French Revolution. There is even a holiday for this event. Now is when the open rebellion really begins.

    At this time the National Constituent Assembly published a list of the rights that were to be established in France. This is getting a good start on becomin a more democratic government.

    Because of the revolution, the king is moved with his family frm the Versailles to Paris. This is done for his own safety, but in the end it doesnt help.

    The guards of the royal family are killed by the people of France. Then the royal family is captured so that the king can be held on trial for treason.

    A repubic was proclaimed by the people of France. France did not actually become a republic however, but the people are now showing their new power. It only lasted until Napoleon took power.

    The king is tried for treason by his own subjects, and is found guilty, in December 1792. He is executed by guillotine in 1793.

    When Napoleon leads his coup against the directory, The French Revolution is brought to a close. The French now lead a new government style of an empire lead by Napoleon.

    Edmond Dantes is home at last after sailing on the seas. He is effective captain of the pharaon and sails it into port. We learn the captain Leclere is dead.

    Edmond meets the Abbe Faria in the tunnel they both dug. The Abbe realizes his tunnel is in the wrong place. They are friends, but they now have a long time to stay still.

    Dantes gets thrown off a cliff in a body bag that has cannonballs in the bottom. He then proceeds to swim a hundred or so meters to the nearest island besides the prison. He pretends he is the survivor of a shipwreck he witnesses and joins a crew of smugglers.

    The Count finds the treasure on the island where he gets his title from. It is in a cave hidden under a boulder that he uses black powder to remove. The Count is now rich.

    Albert was going to duel the count but ends up not doing so because mercedes has told him of Fernand's evil. He instead apologizes for his mistake.

    Fernand commits suicide because he has lost all that he loves. The Count makes him lose his honor, and his family leaves him. He was going to be executed anyway.

    Villefort loses what he loves, his family. The count has manipulated his wife into killing most of the family. Villefort himself causes his wife to commit suicide, and she takes her son with her.

    Danglars runs away because he is afraid to lose all of his money, and he owes more than he has. He is caught by Italian bandits and forced to pay absurd sum for his food.
