    The king was in trouble. The nobility was not happy with his attempt to tax their estate. Nobiltiy wanted to pass the cost once again on the Third Estate.

    King Louis XVI calls body into session to approve the new tax ont the Third Estate. Had not met in 175 years.

    Proclaim themselves a legislature called, National Assembly. Meaning the Third Estate makes their own laws for France.

    Became the new executive government in France during the Reign of Terror, succeding the Committee of General Defense. Their role was to protect the Republic against foreign attacks and internal rebellion.
