    The King was in trouble. The nobility was not happy with the attempt to tax their estate. Nobility wanted to pass the cost once again on the Third Estate.

Why wouldn't King Louis XVI fight for his country? A country that his family has ran for decades. Why wouldn't they stop the revolt for the people that liked the running monarchy? The royals only cared for their own safety and not keeping the monarchy in power.

With him being executed, revolutionists could become satisfied with ending the monarchy and moving to transforming a government for the benefit of the people.
