The Royal Family's flee from Varennes shows their disloyalty to the French people--but also shows their knowledge of future horrific events towards them, along with their selfishness. Why wouldn't King Louis XVI fight for his country? A country that his family has ran for decades. Why wouldn't they stop the revolt for the people that liked the running monarchy? The royals only cared for their own safety and not keeping the monarchy in power.

King Louis XVI wasn't a strong leader and the way he chose to run his government only benefited him along with his family and the first two estates, with just depending on the third estate alone. With him being executed, revolutionists could become satisfied with ending the monarchy and moving to transforming a government for the benefit of the people.
