It was led by Louis VII of France and Conrad III of Germany, both of their armies marched separately and both got defeated separately by the Seljuk Turks. This crusade was a failure to the east and a great victory for the musllims.

    In this crusade they were trying to conquer Ayyubid state in Egypt and then conquer Jerusalem & the rest of the holy land. After they acquired the port of Damietta they were trying to go to Cairo but they didn't have enough supplies to keep on going so they had to go back.
