    Napoleon marched into Italy severally outnumbered. His plan was to divide and conquer. He defeated both Piedmont and the Austrians. He obtained land in the village of Lodi. This was a huge success (green) for Napoleon because he was seen to be using new techniques and was stunning his enemies with his attacks.
  • Egyptian Campaign

    Egyptian Campaign
    This was a campaign was in Egypt and Syria. It was to defend French trade interests, join forces, and to drive the British away. Napoleon was defeated. This was a failure (red) because he had failed and had to withdrawal all French troops in the region.
  • Consulate

    Consulate
    The Consulate was the highest level of government after the fall of the Directory. This was a success (green) because Napoleon became First Consul giving himself more power.
  • Banque de France

    Napoleon created the Banque de France because of the economic crisis France had gone throughout the Revolution. This was a success (green) for Napoleon and the citizens because it let the people economically recover.
  • Concordat of 1801

    The Concordat was an agreement with Napoleon and the Pope. It was used to reconcile the bond between the revolutionists and the Catholics. This did not allow any church land back. This was a success (green) for Napoleon because he could mend his empire back together and use this agreement to make peace with other territories.
  • Consul for Life

    Napoleon proclaimed himself the title Consul for life. He set up his own constitution for the succession of his son. He took major steps to create his own regime. This was a success (green) because it let him run any way he wanted.
  • Napoleonic Code

    Napoleonic Code
    The Napoleonic Code made men the head of the household, took away a women’s individual rights, and gave equal rights. This was both a success and failure. It failed because the women lost their rights and privileges. This was a great success (green) because it created the legal framework for France.
  • Declared self Emperor

    Napoleon snatched the crown out of Pope Pius VII’s hands. This action displayed his rejection to the popes authority. This was a success and failure (yellow). Napoleon got to show his great power to everyone, but this also leads to his downfall with people not liking how he was ruling.
  • Battle of Trafalgar

    Battle of Trafalgar
    The Battle of Trafalgar was a naval fight against the British versus French and Spain. The British destroyed the enemies. The Battle was a failure( red) for Napoleon because now the enemy knows they can defeat him by their sea power.
  • Resistance in Spain

    Resistance in Spain
    The resistance happened because Spain did not want to be controlled by France. Spain’s Congress accepted Napoleon’s brother to the throne. The citizens were the ones that rebelled. This was a failure (red) for Napoleon because he know has to face angry mobs and do his other important things.
  • Invasion of Russia

    Napoleon was fighting Russia with his Grand Army of 500,000 troops. He brought his troops deep in to Russian territory. They made it to Moscow but it was lit on fire by the Russians. The winter was so bad Napoleon had to retreat. This caused him to loose over 300,000 men. This was a failure (red) for Napoleon because he came back to France completely defeated and with a destroyed army.
  • Battle of Nations at Leipzig

    The Coalition armies of Austria, Prussia, Sweden, and Russia defeated the Grand Army. Their were 60,000 soldiers killed, wounded, or captured after the 3 days. This was a failure (red) for Napoleon because after this he was swiftly pushed back to France and shortly after was exiled to Elba.
  • Hundred Days

    Hundred Days
    The War of the Seventh Coalition was an effect of Napoleons return from the months of exile from Elba. This included several campaigns including the final battle of Waterloo. This was a failure (red) for Napoleon because later after he was defeated he was exiled once more to St. Helena.
  • Waterloo

    Waterloo
    This was Napoleons final defeat before Napoleon himself abdicated as emperor of France. This was the end of the 7th Coalition. This was a huge failure (red) for Napoleon. After he stepped down from emperor he ended up getting exiled twice ending up at St. Helena never to be seen again.
  • Abdication

    Abdication
    Napoleon after his defeat was hoping for political support and he got none. This led him to step down from emperor. Napoleon fled but was caught by the Royal Army. He was then exiled to St. Helena. This was a failure (red) for him because he had to step down and he was also exiled.
