  • First Family TV

    First Family TV
My family's first TV. It was given to us by our neighbors. It had obnoxious rabbit ears, 2 protruding dials for the volume and channels options, and NO remote.
  • First Family VCR

    First Family VCR
I remember my dad buying the VCR while on a trip to Paraguay. It was awesome! What was even more awesome and funny is that all the VHS we watched were mailed to us from family and friends living in the US. I remember watching alot of taped Looney Tunes cartoons and John Wayne westerns.
  • Nintendo Entertainment System

The real fun begins now. My dad got me and my sister the original Nintendo for Christmas. It was a hand-me-down from a relative, but the hours of fun I had playing SuperMario 3 were endless. I remember using every opportunity I could to play the Nintendo. It was the first and only gaming system my parents bought for us!
  • First CD player

    First CD player
Before going to school that fall, my parents bought me a stereo that played CDs!!!! It also had a remote control. It was bulky, but awesome. I remember the first CD I purchased with my allowance...No Doubt-Tragic Kindom.
  • Nintendo Gameboy

    Nintendo Gameboy
I purchased this gaming system with my allowance. I also was able to purchase 2 game which came as external cartridges. The games were WarioLand I, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Roadtrips were now probably quiet for my parents.
  • First digital watch

    First digital watch
I clearly remember getting my first digital wrist watch. It was black and made by Casio. I thought it was the coolest. I believe I lost it not to long after Christmas. I was able to convince my parents I needed a replacement which came with a built in calculator. My parents kept that watch after I lost interest in it as a childhood keepsake. I now have it all these years later.
  • First use of a computer for education

First use of a computer for education
I remember moving from the 8th grade to the 9th grade. One of the cool things about being a high schooler was that high schoolers used computers, Big, cumbersome, slow, noisy computers. Because of where I attended school in Brazil and the extreme heat, all computers were housed in an air conditioned room. Thinking back now I'm not sure if it was the computers that were appealing, or the air conditioned room.
  • First cellphone

    First cellphone
I purchased my first cellphone before going to college in the fall of 2002. It was a Samsung flip phone with an extendable antenna. It was sleek and modern. Not to long after I purchased it texting became the big thing. I remember texting like mad using the tiny tiny letter buttons. Sending pictures came not to long after.
  • First laptop.

    First laptop.
My parents bought me a laptop for my second year of college. It was a Dell Inspiron. It was silver with a built in mouse pad. I could connect to the internet and watch DVDs on it. It was the best!! Oh ya I could also do my school work.
  • First smartphone

    First smartphone
I purchased my first smartphone. It was a touchscreen. I don't remember its make or software capabilities, but I can say it wasn't an iPhone or Blackberry. I still have it in storage somewhere.

Playstation 3 and second smart TV
This year I was given a PS3 and a smart TV. I thoroughly enjoy both. I don't watch TV other than what's on Netflix, but I do enjoy gaming when I have time.
