Legend has it he walked with tigers and had a tiger for a pet. Rangkuti is my Grandfather's last name on my moms side. I do not know the exact date. Interview with my mom

    Gundersen family immigrates to US
    The Gundersen family (my dad's mom's side) immigrated to the US from Norway in 1905 when Carl was only 9. They went through Ellis Island and then moved to Chicago where when Carl grew older he would meet Valborg Samuelsen, fall in love, married and had Gloria (my Grandma) and five other children.     Raffaelo Buscarello moved to America in April 16th 1905 from Sicily . He was 33 years old. After he arrived he settled in New York.     Ralph Buscarello served in World War II
    Ralph Buscarello (My dad's dad) served in world war II as a Marine when he was only 15 years old. He was stationed in Okinawa Japan and was in the war for 3 years. He almost died several times and is extrem lucky to be alive. If he wasnt he would have never married to Gloria (my Gandma) and my dad and his siblings wouldnt be here today. I, too, would not be here. Ralph is now 87 years old and lives with his wife Gloria. I dont know the exact date he joined the Marines. Interview with grandpa

    Zukifli helped lead Independence from the Dutch
    Zukifli Rangkuti (my mom's dad) helped lead and fight in the battle for Independence of Indonesia from the Dutch. His brother, Hasan, was a famous leader in the fight for Independence and worked with Sukarno, who became Indonesia's first President after they won independence. Interview with my mom
  • Carl A. Gundersen started Epaphroditus

    Carl A. Gundersen (my Grandmother's father) started a hospital in Africa and started the Epaphroditus Foundation in 1955. Epaphroditus gives money to help people that don't have the resources whether it is to build homes, send them to get education, or help after a catastrophe. Epaphroditus has given away over 3 million dollars to people in need. I dont know the exact date. Interview with my aunt Gayle

    Ralph Buscarello helped NASA
    Ralph Buscarello helped NASA with the Apollo rockets. He helped solve a major problem that was preventing the building of the large rockets. Once solved, they were able to complete the rockets that would carry men to the moon. I do not know the exact date but it was in the early 1960's. Interview with my dad Interview with my dad.

    Marina, my mom, moved to Hawaii for her high school. She then moved to Denver for University and met my Aunt who introduced her to my dad. This is important because if she didn't move here, she would have never met my my aunt and would have not met my dad to have me. Interview with my mom
