At the beginning of 8th grade in 2002, I moved to Hudson, New Hampshire. I had a Language arts teacher named Jen Lowke. She taught me to be a good friend, student and citizen of the world. She went out of her way to make me feel important in this world and took time to listen to me as a person. She inspired me to teach children beyond the classroom as she did and help students to feel important.

I graduated from Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH.

After high school, I went to WSU to study Music Education. I was looking to teach as I was inspired to and utilize my talent of trumpet playing. This sounded like a dream job. Unfortunately, I became uninterested in this field as the year progressed and moved back home to attend Rivier College.
-
In September 2007, I started my first year at Rivier College to study Elementary Education and Special Education. I went back to my inspiration and zeroed in on how I could emulate Mrs. Lowke through my life. I chose special education of young children to be someone that would listen to them and make them feel special along with helping them to succeed.

-
In September 2012, I was moved into the Kindergarden Intervention program as a paraprofessional. I worked my way up to a co-teacher in the program with Lisa Boucher. This event specifically, has brought knowledge to me that I could have never gained in the college classroom.

In January of 2013, I took over the reading interventions in kindergarten at RMMS. I planned, prepared and administered the reading intervention Leveled Literacy Intervention to students who were in the lower 20% of the kindergarten class. I progress monitored them and kept indepth records of their regression or progression through reading in kindergarten.

I taught my first kindergarten summer school program of students in need alone. I learned the ins and outs of lesson planning, communicating with parents, tracking progress, assessments and keeping administration involved. It was a trying experience but one that pushed me to be a better educator.
