    The Arab armies extended their defeat into Libya to the West, but took over the city of Alexandria beforehand. This event symbolizes a change in the theme "expansion/migration, and conflict" because, now that the Arab armies took over these areas, the Islamic civilization will continue to expand more & build a larger state for themselves.

    The Muslim naval power closed the loss of areas in Syria & Egypt for the Byzantine Empire. This event shows a change in expansion (and even state building) because the Muslims were able to gain more land during these conflicts & lay down a route to more defeats in the Mediterranean islands, Southern Italy, and North Africa.

    The last of the few Sassian rulers were assasinated during this time. Because of this, it caused the collapse of the Sassian empire. This event shows a change in the theme expansion, and conflict because, the Islamic civilization gained Sassian territory because of the collapse of the empire.

    Muhammad ibn Qasim, a Umayyad general, launched an attack on Sind. After the successful attack, Muhammad ibn Qasim announced the region provinces of the Umayyad Empire. This event represents a change in the theme expansion and conflict because, this successful invasion gained even more land for the Islamic civilization.

    The Muslims tried to influence into Nubia but were resisted ; because of this, it led to the independence of Christian kingdoms.     When Islamic influence was greatly affecting specific areas in Southeast Asia, there were areas that resisted Islamic influence. The island of Bali, as well as most of the mainland (NOT ALL) in Southeast Asia, remained unaffected by the Islamic influence. This event signifies a continuity in history because even though Muslim influence was present in the island of Bali, as well as in the mainland of southeast Asia, the people's religion didn't change.

    Late 13th Century - Influence in Southeast Asia

    Islam was spread to port centers on the Northern coast of Sumatra. This eventually led to the spread of Islam to Malacca (the coasts of Malaya to east Sumatra) and then to Demak. This event represents a change in the world history theme of expansion/migration & conflict because the spread of Islamic influence in these areas expanded the civilization.
