    Sometime in 1776 Adam Smith released a book entitled The Wealth of Nations. This novel brings up many of the ideas found in capitalism. The ideology of capitalism was adapted by many countries during the industrial revolution.

    The Declaration of Independence states that America will split into thirteen colonies and will not be associating themselves any longer with Great Britain.

    Bad harvest in France from 1787-1789 caused the price of bread and other commodities of life to rise significantly.

    Beverly Cotton Manufactory was the first cotton mill to be put in the United States. The mill was built in Massachusetts and contributed to the industrialization in America.

    Sometime in August of 1789 the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of Citizen was published. This is the document of the revolution stating that all men should have equal rights given to them by nature.
  • Colored freedom

    Sometime in 1790 a document entitled “On the Emancipation of the Negroes” was published. This document bring the same ideas of the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of Citizen to slaves. This document abolished slavery in all territories controlled by France.

    Le Chapelier Law 1791 was a law passed at the beginning of the French Revolution. This law passed by the National assembly gave many workers basic labor rights such as the ability to go on strike and the option to form a union.

    Robespierre becomes part of The Committee of Public Safety. This is how Robespierre gains power in France and starts to rule as a dictator. This is said to be the beginning of The Reign of Terror.

  • WAR

    War between the United States and Great Britain. It is believed that the wars going on between France and great Britain had a huge influence over this war. There was no change in land between Great Britain and the United Stated. The United States gained a sense of pride and freedom from this war, sometimes referring to this war as the “second revolution”.

    The start of the Hundred Days War. Napoleon returns to Paris after being exiled for his constant warfare. Some people greeted him kindly some people were not happy to see him.

    Joseph Aspdin received his patent for Portland Cement. The invention of cement contributed to urbanization and made it easier and more practical to build houses in cities.

    Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto was a book proposing the idea of Communism. The contents of this book were revolutionary to the economy of many countries at this time.
