  • July 30 England

The trip to Oxford was very rewarding. I had recently written an expressive writing about American travelers. The thesis was that people were more the same than different, After meeting Angela, I understood that while human being may be the same...cultures can be and are very differnt.
  • July 31 Sunday in Surrey

    Guildford Cathedral in Surrey
Church services in Surrey were an inspriation for a poem that I wrote. The poem was pretty good, and I wanted to make sure that I explained that it felt like I was one of the church members...that I had been baptised into the British culture. It was a wonderful day with my classmates who have become my good friends
  • Paragraphs

Ruie informs us that paragraphs can be different and have varying purposes. This is quite a shock to us as we discover that after group work, we can create a paragraph with a topic sentence near the end. For logical progression: general to specific details, I always put a topic sentence first. Maybe I just need to loosen up and try something new.

Today Reflecting on myself as a writer
Writing is a journey. You have to process, think and consider before you write. My best work has come from the peace and quiet I have found here in England. I fear that when I return to America, I will pick up my pace to break neck speed, and forget to think before I write. My mother always taught me to think before I speak, but now I must think before I write. I need to remember that processing time must be built in to my class for kids to have time to think, for ideas and opinions.
