Life Plan for Next 10 Years

  • 2023

Hopefully I will be mostly finished with my associate's degree by this point, as I am using my summer months to get ahead. I can start looking more seriously into 4 year universities and getting tours of campuses. I would also like to start looking into internships that relate to my field of interest.
  • 2024

At this point, I will have gotten my associate's degree and hopefully will have moved on to a four year university. I hope to save up enough money with my current job to live in an off campus apartment with some friends. I would also like to be making money from a part time job like I currently have, from a paid internship, or both.
  • 2025

After the spring semester of 2025, I will be done with my bachelor's degree. Over the summer, I would love to join AmeriCorps and participate in service. By the fall semester, I would like to start my master's degree. I hope to find a healthy balance between school and time for myself/friends/family.
  • 2026

I will continue to work on my master's degree as well as possibly finding a more permanent place of residence. I also hope to have enough financial stability to not only support myself but also a pet.
  • 2027

If all goes well, by 2027 I will have finished my master's degree and I can go on to obtain a doctorate. Not many large career opportunities will be open for research positions in biochemistry like I want, but hopefully I can find something that will give me further experience in a lab.
  • 2028

I will continue to work on my doctorate.
  • 2029

While I will continue to work on my doctorate, I would like to master at least one new skill. For example, I've always wanted to learn to play chess.
  • 2030

I will continue to work on my doctorate and practice things that will help me flourish mentally and physically. I will stay in shape and practice financial responsibility. Although having a partner is not at the top of my priority list right now, it may be at this time.
  • 2031

I finished my doctorate! I am going to look for a long term job that fits within the constraints of my degree. I may or may not do this, but I would like to go back to school and obtain another degree so I can work as a correctional officer, or as a counselor of some kind. As long as I have the drive to do it, I can!
  • 2032

At this point, I could either be fully immersed in my job or going back to school. At 26, starting a family probably will not be on my mind as I will still need a few years to fully mature and be ready for parenthood.
