I was conceived around this time, a planned birth. My mother's egg is fertilized by my father's sperm.

I'm covered in a thick layer of downy hair called lanugo and my heartbeat can be heard very clearly now. I'm also moving around a bit, but I still can't be felt yet. It is at this time that my sex can be discovered.

A protective coating called vernix caseosa begins to form on my skin and I will be nearly 8 inches long and weigh almost a pound. Now my mom can start to feel me kicking.

My eyebrows and eyelids are visible and while my lungs are filled with amniotic fluid, I have started breathing motions. I'm now also able to hear the outside of the uterus.

I am now about 12 inches long and weigh about 3 1/2 pounds. My body is now well-formed and I've got fingernails!

By now, I'm gaining about half a pound per week and layers of fat are piling on. I've also likely turned head-down in preparation for my birth and should weigh about 4 to 6 pounds.

My father's mother, Margie, passed away. My dad inherited half of a shrimp boat and 70,000 dollars of debt, he was never sad about any of it, though.

I was traveling by car with my brother and father and we decided to stop by Nashville, Tennessee to visit an old friend after I begged for a while.

My mother's father, David, passes away. My mother takes me and my brother down to Texas to say our goodbyes while he was still in the hospital, but we did not attend the funeral.

I won a $500 scholarship from my time in HERican. I was happy to receive something for my future, it reminded me I wasn't stuck in place.
