My dad was born in Guadalajara November 7th 1970. His dad died when he was 5. His mom left to Oakland in 1976. She came here to get a better life for her and her kids, married my "grandpa" Reuben in about 1977, and had my dad and 4 brothers live with their grandma in Mexico. My grandma sent him to a foster home cuz he was a "bad" child, so my dad would always escape and come back to his grandma's house. My grandma got the paperwork, and had my dad and his brothers come in 1986 to live with her.

My parents and grandparents were the first to come to America looking for a better life. They left Mexico in 1992, so it actually wasn't that long ago. Around this period of time there were about 700,000 immigrants that came to America looking for jobs. That's the reason my grandparents came to America.
