Mehmed greatly expanded the empire and made the capitol Istanbul. He incorperated a lot of Byzantine government into his ruling, making him extremely sucessful.

Mehmed The Conquerer's main goal was to conquer Constinople (The capital of the Byzantine Empire). He renamed this city Istanbul. This conquest lead to a spread of culture in western Europe that heavily influenced the Renissance
