My Life So Far

  • Finally Popped Out

I was born in Dalton, GA and I was a big baby. I was approximately 10 lbs. and 3 ounces, still holding the record in my family for being the biggest.
  • My Type of Style

I was on the Dance Team for the second and final time at Blue Elementary. That was the year that the dance instructor was retiring. The dances were a mix of Hip-hop and Spanish music, and they blended really well together.
  • Leaving My Mark

    Leaving My Mark
Back when CRCTs were still in use, at my school if you scored an 850 or higher (830 being average) you were in the 900 Club. Since testing started from 3rd grade to 5th grade you only had three chances to be in it. If you were in the 900 Club you got your name on a plaque along with the othe students that hung in the hall in the front of the school. Also you got to have a party and make your on t-shirts. I got to do this all through 3rd to 5th grade in elementary.
  • He Never Got to Show Me the School

It was in the summer when my cousin Victor got diagnosed with bone cancer that was already stage 4, terminal. He had gotten it from wrestling when he broke a bone in his butt during a match beating his opponent that was bigger than him. During his last days we talked about him showing me the school, wrestling, how I should join because "Your tough enough for it and mean," were his words referring to our childhood days. So I made a promise to him I would join the wrestling team and win for him.
  • Common Sense Lesson

One day on the weekend my dad told me to cut up sausages so he could put it with the eggs for breakfast. He said to cut it up in squares, I took him literally since I was confused. I cut the sausage creating small circles and then I would round off the edges. After a while my father came to check up on me after, since I was taking so long, and began yelling at me because I should have known how to do it; while he was yelling I was laughing and crying. From there should be a common sense class.
  • First Family Vacation

With my family being big as big as it is there has never really been a chance to have lots of vacations and especially with all of my family. It was also special because it was my aunt's Quincera (Sweet 15). It was fun to go see all of my family and have them us all together. We also got to go sight-seeing and some really cool places.
  • I Can Do It

    I Can Do It
I won a scholarship. That moment was when I made my family proud and truly showed my potential. When the day came to sign the contract, that I would abide by the rules for 4 years and then be able to get the $10,000 scholarship money, I was nervous. Going over the pressure that would follow me since I would be the first person to go to college on my father's side of the family. I was reassured by my family and my mentor. I gained a mentor that would help me find my path to the career I wanted.
  • I Know What I Signed Up For

I Know What I Signed Up For
I have since joined the wrestling team and doing pretty well. I'm junior varsity and I win some not all my matches. This particular match we're up against East Brook, my cousins are on the team. Next thing I know I'm up for my match so I get into position, the ref blows the whistle and I move, and we grapple around for few seconds while we fall to the mat. He goes to grab me by my inner thigh, I become angry, I know that it would happen soon, but that pushed me to take him down and win.
  • Where Am I Going

    Where Am I Going
I went to the Capital in Atlanta, GA for a REACH Scholar college fair with the other scholarship winners. Then we had lunch and congratulated the first class of REACH scholars to earn their money. Afterwards we took a tour of Kennesaw University, visited the freshman dorms, walked around a little, and grabbed something small to eat from the small store in there.
