My Life: Searching For Words

  • Into the World... Eventually

    Into the World... Eventually
This historic event marks the day the most beautiful girl in the universe was born along side her younger sister. That's me... the little sister. Camryn Diane Kowalski fought her way out the womb pushing me, Devin Jeanette Kowalski, aside forced to stay in a little longer. Unfortunatly I rested on my Mom's lungs for an excrutiating 12 minutes, but soon after I was born kicking and screaming.
  • Toledo

    Toledo
As a toddler my family moved out of my Grandma's house and moved to a town called Toledo, Ohio. We lived in a cute, little house that I can remeber every little detail that made up the house even now, 10 years later. I remeber spending my third birthday there and having great quality time with my parents. Living in Toledo taught me how important family is.
  • The Big Move

    The Big Move
At the tender age of four my family moved from Ohio to the small village of Holly, Michigan. My Dad was offered a new job at Bed Bath & Beyond in Flint and he took it. It was sad leaving a house that I loved so dearly and to be so far away from my Grandma, but I was really excited for the start of new adventures and a new life in Michigan.
  • Dino Time

    Dino Time
I don't know the exact day this event occured but I do know that this day was monumental. In fourth grade my class was assigned to write a poem about anything that they wanted. These poems would be sent to a competition between schools in Michigan and Indiana where they would pick out the best poems and publish it in a book. My entry was called "Dino Time", where I described being chased by a T-Rex and some how I won. My poem was published in the book and my love for writing was born.
  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians

    Percy Jackson and the Olympians
This is the year that changed everything...
I was never a reader growing up, I enjoyed the occasional fairy tale or two my Grandma would read to me when we vistited but I never knew how truely magical the alter reality that fantasy really is. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series shaped me into who I am today.
  • Suessical the Musical

    Suessical the Musical
In fifth grade a couple of my friends (Megan, Adam, and Camryn) and I were notified by our school, Patterson Elementary, that the high school was holding open auditions for the school play, Suessical the Musical. We thought the play would be fun so we auditioned and we all got roles as whos from Whoville. Being in the play was great and it brought me and my friend Megan closer. The play taught me not to take things to seriously and to try to be a more positive person.
  • Annie

    Annie
After having such a great experience with the high school play the year prior the same friends and I auditioned for the school play again! That years musical was a production of Annie. Megan, Camryn, and I all played background orphans. This play was even better than Suessical and it taught me to be respectful backstage and be more cautious of my actions.
  • The New Heroes of Olympus

    The New Heroes of Olympus
The Heroes of Olympus if the spin off series from the Percy Jackson books all by Rick Riordan. When the first book was released I didn't know that Percy Jackson and the old demigods were going to be in it and when I got the book as a Christmas gift and began to read and saw the old campers in it and I was thrilled. This series is amazing and the new characters had the same impact on me as the old ones. They all influenced who I really am and has really helped me through rough times in my life.
  • See You Later, Bro-Bro

    See You Later, Bro-Bro
My brother, Richard, left for his freshman year at Central Michigan University last summer. It was really hard to say goodbye to someone who has been with you through everything. This event helped me realize that when he leaves for school its not a goodbye its a see you later.
  • Dear Friend,

    Dear Friend,
I recieved this novel as a gift for Christmas after watching the movie adaptation and really enjoying the story. This book is one of the best books I have ever read and it has really changed the way that I write and my views on life. The main character Charlie was really relatable to me and reading the story really helped me understand society.
  • My World is Splitting

    My World is Splitting
This was a really rough part of my life, this is when my Dad moved out. He packed his things and bought an appartment down the road. Camryn and I didn't see a divorce coming and when my parents told us we were shocked. My sister was more emotional about the news so I tried to comfort her as much as I could. The divorce was finalized not too long ago and my parents have been very mature in dealing with the serperation.
  • Fighting For the Cure

    Fighting For the Cure
My Grandma Betty was diagnosed with breast cancer. As strong as we knew she was my family worried about her alot. My Grandma lives in Ohio, in the town that I was born in, and being so far away from her during her fight was really hard on my Mom who couldn't afford the trip to visit her. Luckily, my Grandma beat the cancer, she is in remission, and is doing alot better. My Grandma is the toughest women that I know (besides my own mom) and this experience taught me more about strength and hope.
  • The Fault in Our Stars

    The Fault in Our Stars
This highly anticipated day was a life changing experience for me. The movie adaptation of the inspirational novel, The Fault in Our Stars, by the talented John Green was an amazing movie with messages that related to everyone in the audience. This movie taught me that it is okay to be scared sometimes.
  • High School

    High School
The begining of my high school career I can say that I am very pleased with what being a freshman is like. In the movies high school is always glorified as some battle ground where everyone hates each other and no matter how true that is I haven't witnessed it yet. Being in high school holds a lot of pressure over your head and is one of the biggest factors that play in how well your future will be when you are an adult. I have learned that you have so much responsibility for your own sucess.
  • The Blood of Olympus

    The Blood of Olympus
This marks one of the worst days of my life. This day was when one of the most important things in my life came to an end. The Heroes of Olympus series was finished when the last book, The Blood of Olympus, was released. I don't think I have ever been this heart broken before in my life, these books have changed me in ways that I can't even explain. Going through all of the adventures, the love, and the death it is so hard to say goodbye. These demigods will forever live on through my heart.
