  • Incarceration of my dad

    Incarceration of my dad
This is something that has impacted me my whole childhood because he has been incarcerated since I was in first grade, leaving me without a male figure. It doesn't bother me at all now though. I honestly wouldn't have had it any other way. He and my mom didn't have the healthiest relationship, so in a way, his incarceration prevented many issues between he and mom that may have impacted me worse.
  • Me and My sister are actually half sisters???

Me and My sister are actually half sisters???
Sometime when I was in fifth grade we did a dna test and found out that my sister actually had a different dad than me and my older brother. This didn't really impact me but it did makes things a bit more clear. (that date isn't accurate by the way. I don't remember exactly when we found out, it was subtle at first because i was younger and they didn't want to shock little me.) (picture of my sister on her 17th birthday 06-14-17)
  • My Baby Brother, Elijah, is adopted

My Baby Brother, Elijah, is adopted
In the beginning of my eighth grade year, we were just watching my mom's coworker's grand-baby but soon we got news that the grandparents couldn't longer take care of him. This was because of the health issues of the grandmother and the fact that they already had a full plate taking care of the previously born grandchild. To be honest, it was kind of the right timing. my mother had been wanting another child but was incapable to have another because of emergency surgery. (picture of Elijah)
  • art

    art
In eighth grade I started to get into more genres and medium of art. This has impacted me because it makes me think of art in my future. I love fashion and the science of textiles. Kids at school describe me as "the one that dresses cool." Okay, awkward but thanks? One of my favorite mediums is multimedia because of the freedom. I also design clothes in my free time. Though, I've been more focused on making collages lately, Brandon really like the ones I make. (picture of recent collage)
  • I met my friend Brandon

    I met my friend Brandon
I have to say that me and Brandon's isn't quite ordinary. Technically, I met him through music. I had found his music on soundcloud and wondered if he had any social media. From there I searched his soundcloud user on instagram and there his profile was, he had pictures of vinyls by artists that I also listened to. After that we started texting and then facetiming. Interestingly, we share some similar life issues even though I live here and he lives in Amsterdam. (Brandon: standing, top right)
  • I go to my first concert

I go to my first concert
I was 14 years old when I went to my first concert. It was a band named "The Growlers" that made surf-like music. My sister, being a long time fan, seen them in concert three other times. We went to the tiny 191 toole building about an hour early to wait in line and met some girls from Chandler. The concert was a wild, but safe experience and I even got to take pictures with incredibly tall drummer, Scotty, who picked me up like a baby and also loved my ironic name. (picture of me & scotty)
  • San Carlos

    San Carlos
This trip was the farthest one yet. I went with my moms side of the family: my Tata,Tia, little cousin, Tio, and my tata's wife's family that met us there. When we arrived we spent most of the time at the beach or eating nearby it. I had the chance to try a lot of delicious authentic food. Though I had to sleep in a hot humid tent on top of a roof, got stuck in the sand on a quad with some boy I barely knew that spoke no English, and got electrocuted by a shower head (TWICE!). I still loved it.
  • I start high school

    I start high school
Long story short, it was so much fun and first but the it was really awful towards the second semester. (picture of my sister and her friend max on our science field trip, we got to go together even though we are in different grades because the trip was based off teacher and not grade. My sister and I had the same teacher so we had the same field trip)
  • Incarceration of my mom

    Incarceration of my mom
I have to say this affected me so much more in the last 6 months than my father's incarceration has in the 7 years. Since my mom was the last biological parent I had, I was confronted with the choice of either having my stepdad or grandmother as a guardian. In the end my grandmother received guardianship of my siblings and I but she was honestly not the ideal candidate in the end. In this time I've been learning to do things for myself because I don't have many to rely on.
