My Life- Megan Garcia

  • My Birth

    My Birth
    The day I was born!!
  • When my dad graduated from medical school

When my dad graduated from medical school
Although this technically wasn't a major event for me, it did mark a change in my life because from then on my family moved around a lot. We changed cities 4 or so times in the years following this.
  • Birth of my younger sister, Madeline

Birth of my younger sister, Madeline
This is probably one of the first truly prominent memories in my life. For my first three years of life, I had been the only child and the center of all attention and affection. From this point on, I would have to share everything given to me, and push to create balanced, healthy relationships with my family members.
  • When my grandma moved in with my family

When my grandma moved in with my family
This event greatly shaped my development because my grandma is my closest confidant, and always seemed more my mother than my actual mom. Her moving in with me gave me a built-in support system that I had always craved.
  • Getting my first dog

    Getting my first dog
When we got our first dog, Bella, my family was definitely different than it used to be. This event was very important because it marked new leniency in my parents' strict style of raising us.
  • Period: to

    Going to college!

Ideally, I will be doing my undergraduate studies for pre-medicine at a state university. Who knows, I might even be a psych major!
  • Period: to

    Becoming a doctor

In this span, I will be attending medical school, doing my residency, and doing my internship afterward. Hopefully, after all of this, I will finally be a doctor! I hope to go to med school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Also during this time, I hope to find a great guy to settle down with and marry some day.
  • Getting married

    Getting married
I would like to get married someday, and ideally, it will be in my late twenties.
  • Period: to

    Settling down

In this stage of my life, I hope to find a good job that excites me, maybe in a new city! All in all, I hope to be able to start building my home, my future, and a family at this time.
  • Having my first kid

    Having my first kid
I definitely want a family someday and I hope to have two children. I will most likely be able to have my first after med school, assuming that I am stable and married then.
  • How different would you be if you could have changed one or two events along your line?

I would probably be very different if my sister had never been born because I may not have become as responsible as I am now. This may or may not have altered my extreme independence and work ethic. If my grandma had never come to live with me, I would have probably evolved to be very lonely and isolated, because she is my strongest relationship.
  • How flexible or fixed does your future seem do be?

My future seems very fixed at the moment because I know exactly what I want to do and the process of doing so is very set: going to college and then med school. Afterwards, I know that I want a family, so that is also set.
  • What does your time line tell you about yourself?

My timeline tells me that I am a very ambitious person and that I definitely have a very set path for my life. My motivations are very aligned with all that I want to achieve. I believe that this work ethic arose from my hardworking, strict parents.
