I'm a mom!! My familiy is overjoyed with the blessing of this child. I begin to educated myself on child development, and begin immersing myself in the role.

After touring and searching local pre-schools and kindergartens in the area, we decide upon a non-traditional environment of the nearby Merrimack Valley Montessori School. I am intreged by their educational approach, and am drawn to the freedom, the auto-educational style of materials, and the peaceful nature of the school.

As Michela continues to grow at her new school, I am intreged by the Montessori method and philosophy. Who was this incredible person?

I have two in school for 3 half days, and begin to feel the promise of freedom of my days in the future. What will I do when my children move on? I begin volunteering at the Montessori school one day a week, and see and hear all the classroom activity - I am enchanted. I feel a pull from inside...is this for me?

After extensive volunteering at my children's school, I have grown to love education and am increasingly drawn to the Montessori philosophy. I inquire with my daughter's teacher about the requirements of a certification program, and make the brave decision to go back to school. I begin the year-long certification this month. For the month of July, I attend the month long intensive: Child Dev, Philosophy, & Practical Life.

Finally! After a year of intesive training, a full internship at MVMS and weekend retreats, I finally finish my Early Childhood Certification.

I am offered a position for teaching at the Merrimack Valley Montessori School:)

After being in the classroom as an assistant for a year, I realize that the profession of education is where I'm meant to be. To my core, I am a Montessori teacher, but I recognize that teaching opportunites with my certificaton will not launch me into a public classroom should I chose that route some day. I decide to go for my masters!

In order to concentrate fully on my education degree, I make the difficult decision to step aside from my Montessori position for the time being. The Director reminds me to come back when I'm done with my degree:) For now, I must spread my wings and see the world.

My 8 week General Education Internship begins in Room 201 with Mrs. Robin Andrews at Pelham Elementary School in NH.
