Education is a journey

My Educational Journey

  • The Real Beginning

    The Real Beginning
On September 10th 1997, my mother was lucky enough to spend endless hours in the Red Deer hospital to bring me into this world. I was the first born child of my family. My father is a finishing carpenter of Riverview Workshops, and my mother is currently a SLPA after many many years of working as an EA in Chinooks Edge. I have a younger brother who just started his first year at Red Deer College, following his mother and sisters footsteps.
  • First Day of Kindergarten

    First Day of Kindergarten
My journey started as a kindergarten student at Poplar Ridge School. I hit the jackpot and had Mrs. Jody Dennis as my teacher. Anyone who knows her is a lucky soul. She has a huge impact on why I am studying education today, which I will mention later on my timeline.
  • Turning Point

    Turning Point
I was in grade 5 when my mother was diagnosed with Cervical cancer. I am happy to report that she is 10 years cancer free today.
Mrs. Dennis took me after school hours for my mom while she underwent treatment in Edmonton.
I had first hand experience of what it felt like for a teacher to completely care about you, and I knew that one day I wanted to be a teacher like Mrs. Dennis who could impact the lives of my students.
(This is me dressed up as Jody for hero day)

    End of Elementary School
Here is a picture of me and my math teacher, Mr. Jeff Goodyear. I remember I had a strong dislike for mathematics until I had such a great teacher who made it fun for me. Thanks Mr. G!
  • First Day of Grade Eight

    First Day of Grade Eight
Here I was, the new kid at school. My mom had pulled me from Riverglen School in Red Deer and put me in Fox Run in Sylvan Lake. Being the grade eight that I was, I was heartbroken that I was moving away from my friends and having to start somewhere new and scary. Little did I know it was the best decision that could have been made, and I am happy to of finished the rest of my schooling in Sylvan Lake.

    Graduated High School
Freedom! (Not for long) I graduated high school from HJ Cody in Sylvan Lake in 2015. I was ready to head to Red Deer College to start my Post Secondary Career.

    Started the Middle Years Program
I was so happy to achieve my goal of getting into the Middle Years Collaborative Program with UofA and RDC.
