I had my first doctor's appointment at Shriner's Children Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina.

Before my surgery, I decided I wanted to go visit some family in New York. I did this because I knew there were a lot of complications involved with my surgery. I just wanted to see them again if it was going to be my last time.

This is me during recovery. I had a long 2 months of recovery ahead of me. It was one of the toughest things I have done in my entire life.

This is my first time out of bed since my surgery. I was so proud of myself for getting up and going.

I was so happy the day I got to go home. Before I went home I talked to 2 wonderful girls who were getting the same surgery exactly one week from this day.

This was the first day I got to get back on my horse after recovering for a year.

Now I am happy and healthy. I function normally and I am on my way to becoming a high school graduate and a CNA. I am so proud of my progress. It was a tough road but I finally made it here.
