    Robespierre Comes to Power
    When Robespierre came to power he was a completely different man than when his reign of power ened. At the beginning he just wanted equality and for their to be a new governmental structure, he used words and his voice to get the job done. But as time drew on he thought that the only way to keep control and move ahead in the revolution was to use terror and violence. At the beginning he disapproved of the death penalty but by this time in the revolution he thought it was crucial to keep order.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    Tennis Court Oath
    After the King locked the National Assembly out of their meeting place, they chose to go to an indoor tennis court and have their meetings there. They swore to the King that they wouldn't stop meeting until a new constitution was written. It was a very symbolic moment in the revolution, which showed that the people could defy their king.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    The people of France were furious about the king firing Necker, who was their man secretly pulling for them, so they wanted gunpowder so they could react violently. The people were acting out against the king and saying that he couldn't stop the National Assembly. This was the fist real act of violence directly attacking the king's actions.

    Declaration of Rights of Man
    This document was much like America's Declaration of Independence, except that its main motto was "life, liberty, and fraternity". It abolished class ditinctions, so people weren't categorized into estates anymore. It made all men equal, but lacked to include the rights of women in it. This was the main event that showed the people of France were seizing power for themselves.

    March to Versailles
    The women of France were furious abotu the bread prices rising and it wsa harder to provide food for their families. Also, they hated the queen because she lived such a luxurious life while the rest of France suffered. She was from Austria which didn't go over well with the people either. So the women stromed into the castle in Versailles and were out for the queens blood, she barely escaped. But still her and the kind were forced by them to move to the castle in Paris.
  • Attacks on prisons

    Attacks on prisons
    Thousands of angry revolutionaries stormed the prisons filled with political and religious prisoners. They would bring them outside into the open adn kill them, this left 1600 dead. This is when the revolution took a violent turn and people nedded guidance.
  • Louis's Trial

    Louis's Trial
    Louis was charged with 33 different action defying the revolution and the people of France. Robespierre put him on trila for being a traitor, and he was found guilty. So he was put to death on the guillotine. This was a sign that the revoltionaries were victorious.
  • The Terror

    The Terror
    The people of France became very paranoid about eveything and so the leaders of the revolution decided that they should use terror to keep everyone in line. If you critized the thoughts of the leaders or mentioned anyting somewhat wrong about the revolution or the old monarchy you would be killed. They thought this would keep the people in line and casue less problems but it just caused thousands of people to die and for France to gain nothing.
