    From 264-241,the First Punic war was one of three wars between Rome and Carthage. The two had debated for a long time about the supremacy of the Mediterranean Sea. The battles were really long and took place in Sicily, Sardinia, Africa, and the Mediterranean Sea. After 23 years of long conflict, the Romans won.

    The Roman Republic fights the Second Samnite War
    From 326-304 is when the Second Samnite War took place. The Romans soon confronted the Samnites in the middle of the Liris river valley, setting off the Second Samnite War and it had lasted twenty years. As with the first war, Rome was getting beat again. At the second half of the war, Rome came back for the win.

    From 343-341 the first Samite War was the first of three wars between the Samnite tribes and Rome. The war began as a result of the Samnite tribes atempt to move West. When they first moved, they moved to Sidicini. The Samnite tribes defeated their army. Then, they moved into Campania. Campania called for Rome's help. Rome had been allies with the Samnites for years. Regardless, they declared war. Rome had won the first Samnite War.

    The city was attacked by the Visigoths. At that time, Rome was no longer the capital of the Western Roman Empire. Rome was replaced by Mediolanum and later Ravenna. The city of Rome was known as "the eternal city" and a spiritual center of the Empire.

    Twelve Tables
    From 451-449 the Twelve Tables was used as Rome's legislation that stood at the foundation of Roman law and formed the centerpiece of the constitution of the Roman Republic. This was written so that Plebeians would know the law. The Twelve Tables included laws to Debtors, Inheritance, Marriage, Rights of a Father, Property, Will and Testament and Womens rights.

    Between 73-73 the Third Servile War took place and it was the last of the three wars. Gladiators had raided Italy. Several men, women, and children were ruled by leaders and one of them was Spartacus. Spartacus was a famous gladiator. The Roman Republic had also won this war.

    From 104-100 the slaves decided to revolt again. The reasoning behind the Second Servile War was because of a confusion of freedom. The slaves thought they were free from the first war, but it ended up that they had to go back to their masters. A slave named Salvius built up an army. The army had been a complete failure. Again, the Roman Republic won.

    From 90-90 the Social Civil War took place.The war was between the Roman Republic and other Italian cities. The result of the war was the vicotry of the Roman military. Although Italian rights were garunteed.

    From 135-132 the slaves of Sicily decided to revolt. The two fighting in the war were Sicily and the Roman Republic. This war was first of three Servile wars. The Roman Republic ended up winning the war.

    In 509 BC, Rome got rid of the Etruscan rulers and Rome became Republic. The revolt was directed by Lucius Brutus who became the founder of the Roman Republic and he was one of the first Consuls of Rome. This was the start of the Roman republic.

    Rome conquered Fidenae in the Sencond Veientine War. Fidenae was five miles upstream from the Tiber River. During the beginning of the war Rome was losing. After making a new army under dicator Q. Servilius, Rome was gaining control over the war.

    From 298-290, the Third Samnite War became the last desperate attempt of the Samnites to be independent and able to convince Rome's old enemies to join against them. The Etruscans, the Umbrians, the Gauls, and other tribes close by joined with Samnium to check Rome's increasing authority. Rome ended up taking over the Italian peninsula.

    The Second Punic War, was fought between 218 B.C. and 202 B.C. Hannibal is a strong person because he crosses the Alps and does everything over land. Rome robbed Carthage of their money and set new rules. 1)Carthage could not built an army without Rome's permission. 2)Carthage lost Spain forever. There were also other rules. Rome was confident that this would be the last conflict between both Carthage and Rome.

    From 149-146, the Third Punic War was the last war. It consisted of many seiges and attacks on Carthage. The Romans had too won this war. Rome destroyed Carthage, without any regret. Many people died of starvation and some were slaves.
