My name is Erika Romero, I was born in Bogota – Colombia on November 23, 1993. I am the oldest daughter among 3 sons of Madre Boyacense and Father Antioqueño, yet throughout my history only my mother was, because my father never exercised his role. Then I only grew up next to my mommy, my two brothers Luisa and Nicolas and my beautiful grandmother Gilma.

Later in 1998 as every child I started studying in the garden and got my first grade. I have minimal memories of that day. But one thing if I have clear and that's that I knew from there that love of study would be one of my great passions.

In 2004 when I was 10 years old, one of the saddest events of my life occurred and it was the death of my grandmother, from breast cancer. It was a very hard blow for me because my grandmother was like my mother and obviously not only for me but also for my mother and brothers.

After this episode, the union that always had between me and my brothers was fundamental. My mother always instilled in us the love between us and it is something that I keeped in time and today it remains intact. Thanks to them and the unconditional support of my mother I have achieved every goal in my life.

After and with the ever fervent yearning to study came one of the happiest days for me and my family. I graduated from high school, in the photo you see is my mom and the teacher that I most wanted at that stage, she taught trigonometry and Calculus and she encouraged a lot in my love for this subject.

This year was one of the most important in my life, after finishing my high school I spent admission to the SENA for the project in Technology in Civil Works, although before this, I always dreamed of studying civil engineering, however, it was a great step towards my goal.

Something happened that would change my life forever and it was to become a mom, my daughter Gabriela was born. Whenever I remember this episode, the words to describe the thousands of emotions I felt when I first saw my daughter are short. I've never had such love for a person.

Although with many obstacles, I managed to graduate from Technologist in Works and Civils and fortunately I started exercising everything I had learned at SENA, always with the firm purpose of being a professional day. Even though the labor camp is a sexist guild, i got a job quickly.

Having already had a few years of experience in the field of work, I started a project of the design of an aqueduct in the city of Cali, and this impetus in my life to choose the professional career that I am currently studying since as I mentioned before my dream was to be a civil engineer. This project in addition to providing me with experience gave me the opportunity to know all the application of the Sanitary Engineering which allowed me to be passionate about this career.

After introducing myself twice before to Distrital University I did a third attempt and to my surprise I managed to pass. Something that has been a 180-degree turn for me in my life and clearly for my family. I changed the delivery of reports my boss by the books and the academy.
