    When the Enlightenment ideas reached France the 3rd estate wanted a change in their government. The 1st and 2nd estate were making the 3rd estate pay all of the taxes while the 1st and 2nd estate were over spending. The 3rd estate were starving and could never move up to the 2nd and 1st estate, they were stuck at the bottom.

    The Bastille was a symbol of tyranny to the people. The Bastille was a prison. It held guns and political criminals. The 3rd estate stormed the Bastille and they destroyed it with their hands.

    The reign of terror was a time when France was surrounded on all sides of France by enemy armies. The revolutionary government decided to make "Terror" the call of the day. Anyone in France that was against the revolution were killed. Revolutionaries went to prisons and killed everyone that was 2nd or 1st estate.

    The Napoleonic code was a set of laws that gave freedom to the people. The 3rd estate could own land and every male was equal. The Napoleonic code influenced many other countries civil laws.

    Napoleon attempted to invade Russia. Russia knew that France was stronger than them so they destroyed their cities so that the French would not have any food or shelter. Napoleon could not go any farther into Russia so he turned back and went back to France.

    The battle of Waterloo was the battle that ended his emperor ruling. The battle of Waterloo took place in Belgium. Napoleon died a few days after that war.
