Literacy Experiences

  • First Word

    My first word to my parents was " mah!" according to my mom. I was first child to my parents and they were so excited to hear me that word all the time.
  • Book "Hello Moon"

    My dad gave this book as my two year old birthday gift and I think I had the book until I was in High school years.
  • I can write my name, just my name only...

    I was about to go to first grade in elementary school and only word I could write was my name, yoojin, in Korean. That was one word I had to remember.
  • Agatha Christie

    Agatha Christie was my favorite of favorite author in my middIe school years. I was quite shy and liked to read books so I did not have to talk to many people when there are family events or at public. I carried her book everywhere.

    My family came to the U.S. in late 1995. Because I knew that my weakness was English, I was depressed that I had to begin speaking, reading, and writing in English all the time.
  • Research Paper

    I still remember my first research paper in college. The research paper was from philosophy class. It was part of oral presentation and I was extremely nervous that I could not sleep the night before.
  • Job Interview

    Even though it was a part time job, at the "Men's Wearhouse", I had a interview with the district manager. I was lucky to be hired. yeah!
  • The book "Hello Moon" again

    For my fist baby, Nathan, the book "Hello Moon" was the first book I had read to him. Reading my childhood favorite book to my own child is a wonderful experience.
  • Back to work

    After my kids went to school, I started to work again. But this time I am not working with adults and work with children.
  • Singing and dancing and reading with the children

    Everyday, I read books, sing songs, and dance with movements with the children in my class. Working with the children becomes big part of my life and I enjoy. I want to enjoy for long time.
