    All body structures are developing; My mohter probably went to the doctor for the first time. I weight 1 pound and I am roughly 1 inch long.
  • Fetal Period

    I have all my body parts including genitals! If ultrasounds were around back then; my parents would know that I am a GIRL and not a BOY. :-)
  • Birth

    After 10 months of a stress free pregnancy, I was born to a 42 year old mother and father. At last the gender of their "surprise" is known.

    My First Two Years

    Biosocial: My motor skills are developing, I am a very explorative child/baby
    Cognitive: I am learning to speak!! I begin with saying words that sound like babbababa which then evolve to single syllable words.
    Psychosocial: I was extremly attached to my Mother, she was a stay at home mom and I didnt like to be watched by anyone other than her or my sister who is 17 years older, somewhat like a 2nd mom.
  • Month 1

    Biosocial - By 4 weeks, I had learned that in order to eat, I had to learn to latch on to a bottle and breast. I am responding to smells and observing objects that are close enough for me to see. Cognitive - I understand that when I cry, my diaper will be changed and/or I will be fed or held. Psychosocial -

    Biosocial: My sister has a baby. I became an aunt at 6 years old, I thought I was so cool.
    Cognitive: My sister is an elementary school teacher, she used me as her test rat for many of her assignments she gave to her students. She is very active in my learning.
    Psychosocial: I begin to think I am my nephews mother, Some kids in school were mean to me by calling me fat. My parents ensure that I am beautiful even if I am a little overweight. I am re-assured.

    Biosocial - I was a very active child, size and shape was about the same as my classmates Cognitive - Logic and different cultures begin to become apparant Psychological - Development of Friends and myself.

    School Years: 7-11

    Biosocial: I started taking dance lessons; Jazz, Tap and Ballet. I loved all three, but had a special interest in Jazz.
    Cognitive: I excel in school classes, conversations are held about the posibility of promoting me a grade ahead. My parents decide against it.

    Psychosocial: Friendships I still have today were formed.
  • Brother goes to Airforce

    My brother leaves our home in Michigan and moves to Anchorage, Alaska to join the Air Force.
  • Fifth Grade Graduation - Completed Elementary School

    Adolescence

    Biosocial: I leave middle school and move on to high school. I transition fairly well. Most of my classmates have gone to the same schools
    Cognitive: We take class trips to the African American Museum and learn about our culture.
    Psychosocial: I begin a friendship that evolved into a relationship with my now boyfriend.

    Adulthood

    Biosocial: I have learned how to properly speak and interact with people,
    Cognitive: I have learned about how to take care of myself; what it really means to be an adult.
    Psychosocial: I have landed a job in the field of which I obtained my bachelors degree; however I have decided that I would like to go into Nursing. I begin taking the pre-reqs for Nursing school. First pre-req is Developmental Psychology!!!

    Late Adulthood

    Biosocial: I am beginning to see that I need to be more active. I begin participating in extracurricular activities with my children and grandchildren.
    Cognitive: I am retired; so I am not working, but I try to maintain my activity level so old age doesnt affect my memory and or physical level.
    Psychosocial: My children are planning their weddings, some of my long time friends are leaving Michigan for warmer climates
