My journey begins! On this same day in technology history:
Husband-and-wife law partners Laurence Canter and Martha Siegel post the first massive commercial spam on Usenet in the United States. See on Wikipedia -
My parents bought me a "disposable" camera. When it was all filled up with photos I threw it in a trash can. I was promptly corrected and luckily the dumpster diving was minimal.
-
My family shared a video camera and we were able to fill it with very important (plus some random child directed) videos.
-
I still remember sitting 10 feet away from my friend Lauren as we sent each other emails through our new student email accounts. kc10323@stu.nebo.edu
-
I actually was a lot later to get an mp3 player than my siblings. I think I ended up getting one either at a garage sale or as a prize for a competition.
-
My family shared a super cool Macintosh Computer that allowed us to save and edit videos.
-
Not fans of actual video games, my parents finally caved and bought a Wii for the family.
-
The indestructible Nokia phone. As my current smartphone clings to life after one too many drops, I look back at this phone with fond memories
-
When my sister wanted an ipod for Christmas I realistically told her my parents had already committed to not buy those for us and expected us to buy our own. In her words, "you crushed my freaking dreams!!"
-
Once my (2nd) Nokia Phone finally bit the dust my Mother in Law bought me a smart phone to replace it. I was not initially a big fan of the transition.
