  • Moving in With Grandma

    Moving in With Grandma
When I was entering 3rd grade, that was when my mother and father's divorce took place. My grandmothers house was not big enough to hold four people in, and at the time I was a huge Daddy's Girl. It was very difficult to be separated from him for most of my time growing up. That was when my emotional eating began and getting bullied at the school I was attending was becoming a reoccurring problem.

  • Switching Schools

As mentioned before, I was getting bullied at the elementary school I was attending at the time. I was the new kid in class and even on that side of town so things were getting very tough for me. I decided to make the switch to a closer elementary school that was closer to where we lived. Instantly I felt welcomed and comfortable with the school I was in. It still is to this day one of the best decisions I could have made for myself.
  • Mother Re-married

    Mother Re-married
Being as close to my dad as I was at the time and having my mother re-marrying was very tough on both my sister and I. Of course we did not like this new guy, and he wasn't someone who was very experienced with children, especially one's who are separated from their dad more often than not and being expected to let this new man in our lives. But, now over 7 years later, we are really starting to warm up to this guy.
  • Admitted to Aurora

    Admitted to Aurora
Being in middle school, going through puberty, and having incredibly painful and nauseating anxiety and depression, I had reached one of my many breaking points. At the last minute one night I had to spill the beans to my mother on how I was feeling mentally and my view on living at that point. The next day I was driven to a very good behavioral health hospital and spent 5 days there. Two weeks before Christmas! To this day it is still difficult to talk about.
  • Mark was born

    Mark was born
About three years prior to my baby brother's birth, my mother and step father were trying to have a baby. Unfortunately, my mother had two miscarriages. It was so very difficult on all of us, especially my mother. Then, unexpectedly in 2011, she was pregnant once again. She was not planning on telling about it until she was for certain that this pregnancy would last. Thank to the heavens above, nine months later my Mark was welcomed to the world. He is the best thing that has happened to me. He
  • Starting High School

    Starting High School
Middle school was the best time that I had during any school years. After it was over, high school crept up on me very quickly and I was not prepared. It was so much bigger than what I was used to and everyone I knew ended up taking interest in different cliques around school. It was so hard knowing where I fit in and the pressure of sports, clubs, and individual classes was suffocating me. It was not a good experience, and my anxiety and depression was coming back into my life at full throttle.
  • Aurora Trip, Round 2

    Aurora Trip, Round 2
High school was a terrible experience for me, life was becoming too stressful and I ended up back into Aurora Behavioral Health Hospital for the second time, this trip was my choice. All of the staff remembered me and were incredible in helping me get better. If I hadn't made that second trip to Aurora, I don't know how I could have gotten through the rough times I was experiencing. I do not regret it at all.

    Beginning Primavera
After my trip to the mental hospital, I realized what I needed to do in order to get better. I left public school and joined the Primavera family. The first few months were very lonely and depressing but ended up being a great choice for me. Now, I have time to work on myself and get my life started. Even getting a part-time job!
  • Getting Learners Permit

    Getting Learners Permit
I know I am a little late to the party, being 17 I got my learners permit! After my first try and spending two long, sweaty hours at the DMV, I was able to legally drive with a licensed driver over the age of 21. It was a big step that lead me to really start thinking about my adult life and get excited for the future.
  • First Job!

    First Job!
Just a week ago from today, I was hired for my first job at Subway. I hadn't been so nervous for anything in such a long time. I know plenty of people who had worked there before and highly recommended it as my first job.
