Graduation
Graduated from The University of Tennessee with a BA in Speech-Language Pathology. -
1st Job
Started first job and hated it! Realized I am a really bad salesperson!! -
Second Job
Began work at the Hospice. Realized quickly that was way too sad of a job for me. I cried everytime sometime died...usually multplie times a day. -
Back to School
Decided to go back to school and get an Add-On on Interrelated Special Education. I continued working and studied at night. Best decision I had made since graduation! -
First Teaching Job
Started teaching Small Group Reading, Language Arts and Math for K-5 in the middle of the school year. I quickly realized I had a lot to learn but I wasn't crying at work anymore!! -
First Mission Trip
Went to Nicaragua on my first overseas mission trip! We worked in a small village providing food and clothing. We did a little Bible School for the children. I had never seen poverty like that before and had no idea people could be so happy living in tin shacks. It was the most humbling experience of my life. -
Second Mission Trip
It didn't take long for me to go again! This time I went to Ghana in West Africa. We traveled the country for a month. We went from Accra in the south up to Yendi, a mud hut village in the north. The people in Yendi were fascinated with my hair and eyes. They had never really seen blonde hair and blue eyes before. I spent a lot of time with people grabbing my hair to feel it and trying to touch my eyes. My favorite part of the trip was holding the babies at the orphanage in Kumasi. -
New Job Same School
I swapped from Resource to Special Needs Kindergarten. I had a student who was so violent he ended up at a Psycho-Ed facility by February. I wanted to quit my job and flip burgers this year but the experience made me a better teacher. I gained more behavior modification strategies than I thought existed this year. -
Switched Again
After a year in SNK, the county eliminated it. I moved down to Special Needs Preschool at the same school and haven't looked back. My favorite grade so far! -
Bought my house
Bought my first house in Kennesaw, Georgia. I love everything about it except the ridiculous HOA... -
Missions Again
Went to Burkina Faso, West Africa. I loved this trip but realized that they have more lizards there than I am comfortable with. The lizards are really enormous. They are more like kamoto dragons and they run towards you and veer off when you scream...almost like they are taunting you. I screamed alot!! -
Key West
Went to Key West with friends. Actually did this two years in a row. -
Puppies!!
Sara talked me into getting two precious puppies! Who could pass up those sweet faces?? -
Grand Canyon
Drove my mother to the Grand Canyon to see my niece's youth choir sing at the South Rim. Fantastic road trip, even saw some of the damage from the Oklahoma tornadoes. My mother wouldn't let me take a bunch pictures of her, so I got one with my niece! -
Last Class!!!
Started last class and spending July at the beach!!
