JD's Life Odyssey

  • The Gods send me, Jonathan David Marx, to earth...as a mere mortal.

The Gods send me, Jonathan David Marx, to earth...as a mere mortal.
I was born in Utah on July 13th 1999. I was born to two mortals by the name of Jason and Jennifer Marx and was their first-born son. My first years on earth were spent learning mortal lessons about how to govern my mortal body. Lessons in patience, self-control, obedience, and showing devotion to the Gods by minding my mother and father. I managed to grow into a fairly balanced mortal while growing up in Utah with so much family around to show me the traditions and beliefs of my ancesters.
  • Michigan....I meet my CALYPSO!

    Michigan....I meet my CALYPSO!
For five years I lived in Utah, then followed my father and the Gods calling to Michigan. I made many friends and loved the area, but mostly I found my “calypso," MUSIC. Music and my obsession with the guitar took over my life. Besides hanging with friends, music was my new language. Listening to it, talking about it, and playing it. It was a great thing, but I started losing site of my other goals in life and needed a trial to set me on a balanced pathway again.
  • Journey to Illinois...Facing my Hamartia

    Journey to Illinois...Facing my Hamartia
I moved to Illinois and was only there for a little more than a year. I hated it, I begged my parents to move again. I feared I would be turned into something I’m not for my hamartia was self-confidence I was easily molded by my surroundings. “So they had the head and voice, the bristles and the shape of swine, but their mind abode even as of old.” I felt as if I was turning into a swine, someone i didn't want to be. Escaping my situation there was crucial to my survival.
  • GEORGIA--my re-awakening.

    GEORGIA--my re-awakening.
I moved yet again to Georgia and thought I was finally on the home stretch of my Odyssey. I had a hard time at first relating to the new culture of the people and finding my place, but with the help of the Gods and by focusing on finding balance in my life, I found great friends, a happy existence, and grew as a mortal in that first year in that new land.
  • DIVORCE--my mighty Prometheus

    DIVORCE--my mighty Prometheus
As soon as I found my place my journey faced its biggest challenge, divorce. I was super sad at first and did not think I would ever find my way past it,,but with careful thinking and trusting in my intellect, I was able to survive it and escape destruction. Just like how Odysseus found a way to get past Prometheus the mighty Cyclops
  • Charybdis--High School

    Charybdis--High School
The transition from 8th to 9th grade was hard for me. I was able to coast by without cracking open a single book and still get A’s. As soon as high school started I expected the same thing, I didn’t study and my grades went down the drain. I felt so overwhelmed; I felt like Odysseus so close to being sucked down Charybdis’s whirlpool. I felt as if I was caught swirling in the whirlpool about to go under. I wasn't sure how to put my boat back on the right path.
  • HERO OF MY OWN EPIC JOURNEY

HERO OF MY OWN EPIC JOURNEY
I am learing to trust in the mortal gifts the Gods have given me. I am learning to recognize the "lotus eaters" in my life that block my success in my odyssey. I am determined to be the hero of my epic journey.
