When I was nine month my parents decided to move to the US in search of a better life style.

While, I was growing up in a spanish-speaking home, television was my first English teacher. Thanks to Count von Count I started counting in English.

I will never forget from Preschool, Curious George and the man with the yellow hat. During preschool I was not much of a speaker but, I remember telling my mother in spanish what I learnedin Preschool. The words were building in.

Ever since we moved to the US every summer we would return to the Island. But it was after my first grade that these vacations became something big.

Thanksgiving was soon to come so I decided to do a drawing and write a letter to my cousins in spanish. I remember having to write the letters twice because my mother would correct my spelling. My cousins wrote back. This reenforzed and motivated my effort therefore I kept on sending letters and receiving letters for a few years.

Do to my mother's health we returned to the Island. School did not turn out to be too difficult. Thanks tomy informal way of learning the language I was capableto get on track really fast.

Graduating with honors from high school I decided to study French language and literature in UPRM. Following my dreams of overcoming language barriers.
