Jacqui's Jewish Journey

  • Began 6th Grade at a Jewish Day School

I started school at a public primary school and was then moved to a Jewish Day School when my Mom found me hiding my Hebrew School textbook from my friends.
  • Bat Mitzvah

I realized how much it was to be Jewish with my friends!
  • Youth Movement Mini-Machaneh

Youth Movement activities became a central part of my life - I loved the people and the activities! I couldn't get enough of my Jewishness!
  • Began studying a bachelor's degree in Jewish Studies

I began studying Jewish Studies as a major with a fantastic rabbi as my teacher (his son is now the chief rabbi of the UK)!
  • Visited Israel for the first time

Joined a group of young adults to spend time on kibbutz and traveling around Israel for three months.
  • Married my bashert

We reconnected after spending about 13 years apart.
  • First Hebrew teaching job

I was employed at a Reform Temple which became my life for ten years! Loved every minute - I did family education, subsitute teaching and regular Hebrew/Judaic Studies instruction.
  • Began teaching at Hillel Community Day School

I taught Kindergarten Judaic Studies for five beautiful years!
  • Began working as PJ Library and family education coordinator at the Jewish Federation

This is my current job and I love it!!

BEST thing I ever did (besides marrying my husband and having my two children)!
