Ottoman Empire
The Ottoman Empire was founded at this time. They defeated the Byzantine Empire and took the great city of Constantinople and renamed it to Istamboul. This islamic empire converted many cathedrals to be mosques and lasted all the way until 1918. -

Safavid Empire
The Safavid Empire, due to opposed religious views, existed as a rival to the Ottoman Empire. Their lands were in present day Iran and they made this area a center of trade, art and architecture. -

Mughal Empire
The Mughal empire allowed for freedom of religion, making for a happy empire. This enlightened empire was responsible for the building of the Taj Majal as well.
