My little brother Colin was born in 1992 only three days after my own birthday. My little brother and i always had a special bond growing up and were inseparable. That is until i wasn't cool enough to hang around anymore!

My grandma Janice passed away in 2001 and was probably one of the hardest times in my life. My grandma was my best friend and the person i could go to when i needed anything. She was the women who kept our family together and would do anything for anyone. It was really a heartbreaking time for everyone in my family.

I graduated from Hilliard Darby High School in 2004. I wasn't sure what exactly my career path was going to be. I was deciding between criminal lawyer (i love law and order), teacher, or a nurse.

While on vacation at our family cottage at Lake Erie in New York, i got a phone call from my mother telling me that they found my Aunt Carolyn deceased in her home. This was heartbreaking as she was our rock and my second grandma since my grandmother passed in 2001. She was a loving woman who had a heart of gold, she truly made a huge difference in my life.

With this class, i hope to better understand how children learn phonics. I want to get a better understanding on how to teach children a way to read that is fit for each individual I am hoping that i can use what we learn in this class to come up with new ideas and ways to teach children the importance of learning how to read, write, and spell. Overall, i hope to complete this class with knowledge about how important it is that all children no matter their abilities understand phonics.
