    Industrial Revolution Begins in Great Britain
    The industrial revolution begins in Great Britain, and many other places in Europe. The Europeans need Raw materials to fuel their factories though. This is the start of Imperialism.
  • The Opium Wars

    Britain starts to trade Opium from India to gain the balance of power. 12 million chinese become addicted to the drug. The Chinese revolt but lose at sea and in the end, Britain gets Hong Kong for trading
  • Commodore Perry Opens Trade With Japan

    Commodore Perry Opens Trade With Japan
    Commodore Perry goes into Japan by sea with 4 warships and 80 cannons ready for battle. This forces Japan to open up trade with the Americas.
  • The Sepoy Rebellion

    The Sepoy Rebellion
    In 1857 the British switch to Enfield rifles. The cartdiges were sealed with beef and pork fat which went against their religon. The Sepoys Rebelled, but in the end were defeated by BEITCO in a year. This led Indian National Congress and the spread of Inidan Nationism.

    The Shogunate is overthrown. The Meji emperor restored. Japan begins to moderize quickly because of trade with the americas. Japan because the most industrialzed nation in Asia.

    The Suez Canal was finished in 1869 by French enigneers. It would be owned by the French for 99 years until Egypt wanted it. Today it brings Egypt over 3 billion dollars.

    Henry Stanely explored the area for Leopold II. The Berlin Conference granted the land to Leopold II (Not Belgium, but Leopold himself). Under Leopold's rule the Congo lost over 50% of its native population.

    Otto Von Bismark made a conference to discuss the Scramble for Africa. The major European powers were there, although there was no African representative to defend their land
  • The Boxer Rebellion

    The Boxer Rebellion
    The rebellion thought they were godlike and couldn't get wounded. They took over the European section of Bejing and held them hostage for a couple months. They rebellion was squashed by europeans powers that invaded.
  • Suez Canal Crisis of 1956

    The British and French held the ownership of the canalin 1956. The Egytian President, Gamal Nasser, Nationalized the canal, but then it closed down for 8 years and left 14 ships trapped until it reopened in 1957.
