Family in America
I have very many people in my family that live in America. I am thinking about going to america as they have asked me to live with them. I could find a job and help pay for some of the food. I will be on my way to ellis island soon. -
Reasons Why Moving to America
I am deciding to move to america for the government is ready to collapse. There is war, flooding, and famine present in my home town, japan. I must get a job so i am able to provide needs for my family. -
Leaving Ellis Islnad; Entering America
It was a long journey through the Ellis Island. Some of my family had to be sent back for having some symptoms of a disease. I got through all of the exams and it was very crouded too. As I got to america I saw the statue of liberty. It was a beautiful sight and many people were all tearing up. Right now it is a great feeling to be in america. -
Moving to the West
I am moving to the west so that I can find a good job for me and my family. We have a long way to travel, but we will make it soon. I hope to find a job such as farming and railroads. It isnt that easy to find a job being a chinese immigrant as they must think about what I am useful for. -
Many Chinese Immigrants Coming to America
Now there are many people coming to america now. The job I have gotten was a railroad worker. Many chinese immigrants, like me, are now getting low wages ( not as much money as other americans). We are also very responsible for large jobs on the reailroads and have to do home jobs too (clothes and dishes). It is getting hard to compete with the paying I am getting payed. -
Chinese Exclusion Act
There was a chinese exclusion act passed and stopped laborers from entering the country.1,000 Chinese immigrants expelled from Washington. Luckly I was not one of them except now there isn't very many jobs around.
