    Moving to America
Hi my name Is Mason Schmidywerbenjeiserman. In order for me to be able to maintain a farm I needed land. This made me want to move to America because my farm had already failed and I lost my land. I heard tales of America having tons of free land and i decided this is where I want to go

    Immigration and Westward Expansion

  • I finally made it into America

I finally arrived in America after a few months of traveling and inspections. I passed the legal and health tests with ease and I had no trouble getting to America. But ti still took forever to get here. Whenever people tell me I will not make much money farming this makes me want to farm even more. I will begin farming as soon as possible. I am really exited to begin farming.
  • My life on the farm

    My life on the farm
I had finally begun farming. Within less than a month I completely ran out of money. Thew lack of money didn't allow me to properly feed all of my animals. This resulted in most of them dying. Now I had no animals or money and I had to give up on farming. Now i felt my only option was to move to the west where the rest of my family is and i can get a job building the transcontinental railroad. I feel like America isn't what I expected it to be but I will have a fesh start in the west.
  • Moving west

    Moving west
I finally got to the west today. Everyone is discriinating me and nobody wants to hire me. This rresulted in me working at a swetshop which made my life horrible. I was barely payed anything and the conditions i worked in were not healthy.
  • Working in the sweatshop

    Working in the sweatshop
Everyone in the west discriminates the Irish. Even at the sweatshop I am working at everyone treats me horribly. The manager is trying to kick me out so I have decided I am done working there because they are eventually going to fire me. It is going to be very hard finding a new job even though there are plenty of other sweatshops I bet no other one will hire Irish.
  • Slums

    Slums
Ever since I left the sweatshop nobody has had any desire to hire me. This has caused me to move into the slums with my family. I hope that discrimination against Irish ends soon so I can go back to work. But until then I am stuck in the slums with no job. The slums are a horrible place to be because of how much crime their is and lack of jobs, food, and money
  • Finally got a job on the railroad

Finally got a job on the railroad
The railroad has finaly stopped discriminating Irish. It has taken many years but I have finally gotten a job as a railroad conducter. This is a great thing because I had been living in the slums jobless for so long that I needed a job to get out of that horrible place. This new job will give me money allowing me to buy a house and live the rest of my life without struggle
