I didnt get much pay working in Italy so i didnt have much money. Therefore, i came to America to find a job and housing with my uncle, he is my only family member left.we had to take a horrible, cluttered boat to the Ellis Island immigration station but it was worth it becuase hopefully we will get what we came for. All i brought was the clothes I have on and a bag with extra clothing and heirlooms from my ancestors. We had to stand in long line to get checked for dieses and other things.

Once we arrived in America me and my uncle were not quite sure what to expect. When we arrived we were hoping it would be easier to find a job and housing. I was looking to work in a sewing factory and my uncle, mining. Back in Italy, I didnt earn that much money, neither did my uncle. I sewed clothing for people as a seamstress but that didnt pay much and it took up alot of my time. My uncle found a job as a miner but i havent found one yet. He has only earned a small amount of money for food.

My uncle had found a job working in the mines. It was a dangerous job therefore, he was killed in a mine explosion. This event was big becuase 19 men were killed. This was hard becuase he was my only family member left. I only have the money that is left that he earned becuase i still am searching for a job. This event made it very hard to thrive becuase of the amount of money i have left just for food.

The winter was cold and hard to survive through. I didnt have much food and not much shelter. The cold winter caused me to struggle to find money, food, and shelter. Many people got sick over the freezing winter and a large portion of people died. I just had to get through the winter and then i could move west becuase i still wasnt having any luck finding a job. I was still thriving from the money my uncle recieved working in the mines before he died.

Now it was time i move west. There is more oppurtunities in the west. I barely made it through the winter with little food and thing i needed to thrive. I am alone, without my uncle, but i have a better chance of finding a job and housing if i move west. it was a very long journey but i managed to get through it. I am going to look for a job at a sewing factory. it is very hard being alone and moving west.

In the early year of 1863 i finally found a job. A job that was exactly what I needed. I found a job at a sewing factory which is what i did back in Italy but back in Italy the payment wage was very low. This job pays pretty well enough for me to thrive. I am living in a cheap apartment but its all i can afford for now.

When I got a job working at a sewing factory a tragic incident happend. so,we were using sewing machines and i didnt have any experience with them. Therefore, I got distracted and my hand got caught. I panicked and used the sewing machine wrong and the needle did alot of damage to my hand and my lower arm. This was a very painful experience but i got my wound treated and tried and tried to use the sewing machine with one arm. To add to that, they took away my pay for that week.
