friend like !
My friend who had been away for a month for a trekking expedition had tears of joy when she recd a detailed letter from me describing things at my end. She loved the way the letter almost tranposed her from the high mountains to the warmth of our city home -
Represented office colleague
Wrote a recommendation letter for my boss on behalf of my super boss - recommending a promotion for him based on his perfomance merit although he was at a disadvantage in terms of educational qualification. Result ; - I got promoted to the cream dept in the office which reqd a lot of correspondence skill :) -
More writing responsibilties
After being posted to the higher office,I began handling the correspondence of my divisional head. I was now handling all correspondence to all stakeholders almost independantly with an interference of an occaiosnal nod of apporval thrown in by my boss -
Proxy journalist
The day I would not forget - My divisional head was reqd to give an interview for the local edition of the national newspaper. Due to lack of time, he asked me to handle it. I framed possible questions that would be put across to him by any journalist covering such an assignment. Not only that, I drafted his respones too and thus created a dialogue in the form of an interview. Got kudos from my boss and his peers :)) -
Pen is mightier than the sword
I was heading the regional office of the placement department of my post -grad level management students. My students were upset because the head office (located in another city) were being insensitive to the ground reality of the students and were withholding their results and certificates. As I was aware of the ground reality, I understood the pain and suffering of the students. I took up their case with the HO and made a strong written representation on their behalf. Result: Students won ! -
Secured funding
Had my first taste of Project Proposals - Writing pages & pages of structured project proposals at first seemed a daunting task. But a little study and self-help I did a good job.
Result : Granting of funding & sponsorship for my proposal !! -
