I began working for the City of Evansville Department of Parks and Recreation as a lifeguard at Hartke Pool. I was still being driven by my mom to and from work. I had little to no expenses. I made roughly $2,100.

I put in $1,000 dollars and my parents matched that and I bought my first car, a 2000 Red Chevy S10 small utility truck. It gets approximately 25mpg and is very cheap to maintain.

It happened. I forgot to file for my tax return on the $2,100 dollars I'd made the previous summer at the pool. Being an underage independant with no job I missed a lot of money in my tax return.

The pool opened later this season because the city had to tear down our slide. The amount of patrons dwindled this season and we needed a smaller staff. I was now able to get more hours, although me taking a vacation offset this benefit. I made roughly $1,800.

I skipped school and travelled alone to Nashville to purchase a motorcycle from some stranger off craigslist. Went well, I paid $350 for it; the guy was pretty cool, he helped me lift it into my truck bed and strap it down. Nobody was happy with my purchase. A 2002 Honda Nighthawk in 250cc.
