    The Fall of the Western Roman Empire
    September 476 AD the last Roman Empire of the west was known as Romulus Augustulus was invaded by German Prince Odovacar, he won control of the Roman army. Rome falling saw the death of education and literacy, refined architecture, advanced economic interaction, and the rule of written law, as well as Gladiatorial games and crucifixion of prisoners. With its fall many of the advancements made were lost and had to be rediscovered 100's of years later. It was the beginning of the Middle ages.

    Shōtoku Tennō  Daughter Koken became Empress
    She ascended the throne in August 749, she was the last empress to rule Japan until the 17th century. She occupied the throne twice. There had been a number of female rulers before Kōken, but the power achieved by the Buddhist monk Dokyo during her second reign caused the Council of Ministers to rule out female order to the throne from that day forward.

    The Battle of Hastings occurred on Saturday the 14th of October 1066. King Harold II of England was defeated by the Norman forces of William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings, fought on Senlac Hill, seven miles from Hastings, England. In the end Harold was killed and his armies were destroyed. He was the last Anglo-Saxon king of England. Then the Vikings took over.

It was signed on the 15th of June 1215.

    In 1274 Kublai Khan, sent huge fleets to invade Japan. The shoguns gathered armies to fight the Mongols and strengthen their defenses along the coast. On each attack the Mongol fleets were destroyed by typhoons, called Kamikaze.

    The Black Death spread through Europe in 1347 to 1350. It was a disease carried by fleas that lived on rats, brought to Europe on merchant ships from Asia. Approximately it killed 1.5 million out of an estimated total of 4 million. It wiped out almost half of England's population.

    Joan of Arc leads the French to victory at Orleans
    In 1428 the English invaded Southern France, taking over the city of Orleans. A peasant girl named Joan of Arc became the leader of the French army, after saying she had seen visions form God. She lead the French to victory at Orleans in 1429. Under her leadership the French had many victories before she was captured by the English and burned at the stake. She inspired the French to continue fighting the English even after her death.
