Progroms are anti-jewish mobs that began in 1881.These mobs would rampage through towns and destroy Jewish homes, buisnesses and schools. These mobs spread through Europe in the late 19th century and early 20th century. -
Dreyfus Affair
A jewish french officer was accused of spying on the french goverment for Germany. 10 years later he was found innicent and that caused riots in Paris. The french office's name was Alfred Dreyfus. This is another influence for the agreement of a new country. -
Balfour Decision
In 1917, the Balfour Decision was created. The Balfour Decision was a statement saying that Great Britian supported the state of Israel.Arthur Balfour was the author of this document, hence the name. -
Holocaust occurs
In 1933, after WWI, Adolf Hitler becomes the new chancellor of Germany. The Holocaust is the mass murder of 6 million European Jews. This inflenced the UN's descision to agree on the state of Israel. -

In 1947, Palestine was divided into two countries. This land was soon to be Israel and Jordan. This was caused by the conquer of Palestine by Britian. -

PLO, was created in 1964 for the destuction of Israel. They felt that they were having their land taken away from them. Because of these beleifs, they had many uprisings and caused many battles and wars. -

The Yom Kippur War started October 6, 1973 and ended October 25, 1973. It started as a surprise attack by the Arabs. The Abrabs knew that almost the whole country was in church , celebrating a Jewish holiday. Israel still suceeded in keeping their land. -
A Palestian uprising
A Palestinian uprising against Israel starts in the West Bank and Gaza.This was also called Intifada. This effort was carried out through the whole country in hopes of getting back their land.
