Customer IT Initiatives
Since I began my role at the company, we have been exploring options to eliminate the workload on our customers and our staff. Exploring our IT options has been instrumental in this time and cost reduction initiative. The IT initiatives are ongoing, based on new advances and customer requirements. -
Started Employment at Technology Firm
My employment began at a technology firm specializing in embedded computer systems which are integrated into end user technologies. I was brand new to the tech industry and the transition was challenging. -
My Department's Integration w/ IT
I was hired as a manager of a brand new department without set processes or responsibilities. My fate was solely in my hands. My first interaction at the new company was with the IT department as the IT department is undoubtedly the most crucial element in a successful tech company. I began developing processes and training on company-wide software programs. -
ERP Training Initiative
ERP, or Enterprise Resource Planning, software is one of the most utilized information systems in the world. Our brand of software is one of the more "user-friendly" programs in existence. Not to say the system does not pose challenges. Not always intuitive, ERP requires a great deal of training in a test environment. When properly implemented and utilized, ERP is highly effective and efficient in all areas of a manufacturing environment. -
ERP System Upgrade
Our ERP system is updated with a new version periodically, based on business decisions made by upper management. Not all upgrades are worthy of resource expenditure. My company has had a system update once per year since I have been employed. Each time we have a system upgrade, department leaders are asked to test all functions utilized by their department. Early on, I was responsible for confirming changes made in the software were accurate and functional. -
IT Project Launch
To better serve our client base, my company devised a "self-serve" alternative to offer real time data available 24/7. A client "portal" is a web based program which pulls specific data from our ERP system, offering details from product development to shipment of product. Often, our medical clients require very specific information they can upload quickly from this web based program. Many of our clients are very dependent on this tool, and expansion is imminent. -
Facility Relocation
We moved into our brand new facility in 2015. All IT was upgraded and updated to the best available at that time. All antiquated and obsolete technology was eliminated. -
Addition of Software Engineering
Software Engineering was brought on board in 2016. Prior, we outsourced the process which brought on more risk than comfortable for the firm. With the addition of Software Engineers, we now have full control of the timeline and products being created. The addition has also brought a great deal of revenue to our company. -
ERP Rollout Test Group
At our latest roll out of the new version of our ERP system, I was heavily involved with the testing process. The company put together a test group of ten individuals to spend months testing the new version. Each individual was responsible for tracking and reporting inconsistencies or errors in aesthetics, functionality & downstream impact.
