    Oslo Peace Accord Is Signed by Israel and the PLO. It was agreed that Israeli troops would be withdrawn from Gaza and the city of Jericho, in the West Bank. They would then withdraw from other parts of the West Bank.

  • Cairo Agreement Is Signed between Israel and the PLO

    The agreement effectively transferred control over the bulk of the Gaza Strip and a sixty-five-square-kilometer area encompassing Jericho and its environs to PA [Palestinian Authority] control, with Israel remaining in control of the borders between these now-autonomous areas and the outside world and of the Jewish settlements in the Strip

  • Wye River Memorandum

    Talks proceed in an atmosphere of distrust between Arafat and Netanyahu. They agreed upon an Israeli redeployment plan and a security cooperation plan. Also included a provision for the PNC to eliminate articles in its Charter that called for destruction of Israel. Some redeployments of Israeli soldiers took place, however the PNC renounced clauses in the PLO Charter offensive to Israel, but Israel refused to pull back any further.
