  • The Estates General

    The Estates General
    King Louise called a meeting representing the three estates: the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners. It is held by King Louise XVI because of the financial crisis in the government of France. It was the first meeting since 1614.The meeting was unfair in voting since the First and Second Estate had the same amount of vote with the third Estate even though the Third Estate had more people, they still had equal ranking in the Estates General.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath
    Members of the Third Estate take the Tennis Court Oath demanding certain rights from the king. Commoners met inside a tennis court and did the Tennis Court Oath which is a promise not to break up until the constitutional reform is achieved.
  • The Storming of the Bastille

    The Storming of the Bastille
    The French Revolution begins with the Storming of the Bastille. The Bastille is a prison for political prisoners and it is a symbol of the oppressive power of the king. A large gathering of angry mob attacked the bastille.

    It was issued by France's National Assembly, it was a document for the rights of the citizen of France
  • The execution of King Louis XVI

    The execution of King Louis XVI
    King Louis XVI was beheaded by guillotine that took place in the Revolution Square in Paris. There were large crowds watching and the king was condemned to death by the majority.
  • The Committee on Public Safety

    The Committee on Public Safety
    It was a political body formed that had a lot of rule over France during the Reign of Terror.
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    This was a horrible and bloody period of the French Revolution where a group of radicals called the Jacobins led by Robespierre executed 16,594 people because of the idea that whoever is not royal to the revolution would be destroyed. It came to the end in on July 27, 1794 when Robespierre is convicted and executed because of his tyranny.

    The Directory is formed and takes control of the government of France. It is five-member committee which governed France from 1795 after Committee of Public Safety collapsed.

    Napoleon Bonaparte crowned Emperor
    Napoleon was first a young army commander and then become the leader of France. After he took power, five years later he declared himself as the emperor of the French.

    Napoleon invades Russia
    It was a terrible mistake that Napoleon decided to invaded Russia because of the harsh weather and condition in Russia that could destroy his army. Nearly 400 thousand french soldiers died in that.
  • The Battle of Waterloo

    The Battle of Waterloo
    The Battle of Waterloo was fought near Waterloo. A French army commanded by Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated by the Seventh Coalition and a Prussian Army. It marked the end to the Napoleonic Wars.
