I plan to save money to get an apartment and move out of my parents house by the end of the year. I also would like to have money saved for emergency expenses. I plan to start saving $100 out of every paycheck I get, and save any additional money I might recieve (like tax return). I hope to save around $3500 but I will need to collect more information before I am able to make a realistic goal.

Once I determine how many hours I'm going to be getting per pay check I will be able to figure out how much I am going to be able to save from each check. Hopefully $100 or more.
-
Try and figure out what I'm buying that I need compared to what I want. Lower the amount spent on want so that I have more money to save. Try finding ways to limit costs ex) start bringing my own lunch instead of going out to eat for lunch.
-
Figure out how much I'm getting back, and determine any costs I may need to pay to fix my car. Save as much of the return as possible and determine what realistic goal I want to aim for, for how much money saved by the end of the year.

Look for a two bedroom apartment in the Ames area for me and my friend to share.

After Graduation re-evaluate how close I am to my saving goals. If It doesn't seem like I'll be able to save enough with how things are going; see if I can get more hours at work, or look for a second part-time job.

Browse and determine how much money needs to be saved up for apartment necessities like toiletries, kitchen utencils, cleaning supplies, dishes, silverware, towels, laundry soap and softener, furniture, etc.

Save any birthday money I recieve or use it to fix my car so that I don't have to take money from savings to fix it.
