Fun With Rachel Feikema (A Series of Unfortunate Events)

  • Rachel is born!

    Rachel is born!
After 36 hours of labor, my mother gave birth to me at Butterworth Hospital. I was 9 pounds. I was very stubborn. Yeah I haven't changed.
  • Great-Grandpa died :(

    Great-Grandpa died :(
My great grandfather died about 2 hours before I was born. Maybe I'm his reincarnated soul. Who knows.
  • Began talking!

    Began talking!
I began talking extremely early. This probably isn't a surprise to anyone.
  • Potty trained!

    Potty trained!
I used to love playing with the toilet... until I was taught what you actually do in the toilet... yikes.
  • Was in my first car accident!

Was in my first car accident!
My mother rear ended my father while I was in his car. Both cars were totaled. Lovely parenting, huh?
  • Little Rachel begins preschool.

    Little Rachel begins preschool.
On my first day of preschool, I got in trouble for being too talkative. (Forshadowing the rest of my life).
  • My school was broken into :o

My school was broken into :o
My school in Wyoming was broken into over night. We came in to see many things smashed, including the fish tank, leaving fish all over the floor. I then talked to a reporter over the phone about what happened and was put in the paper! I thought I was famous. They spelled my last name wrong though :(
  • 9/11

    9/11
I guess this one explains itself. I remember the moment I heard about it. I was in my carseat in the back of my mom's car. She was crying and I asked what happened. And yep that's about it.
  • Got a pet Guinea Pig named Checkers :)

Got a pet Guinea Pig named Checkers :)
I got my first pet ever on Christmas :D I was so excited to go back to school and tell everyone about it. However, I showed up to my first grade class and found that 4 people in my class got puppies for Christmas. Yeah... no one really cared about my guinea pig. Sigh.
  • Moved to Byron Center!

    Moved to Byron Center!
We bought a new (and much bigger) house in Byron Center. I had no idea how many memories would happen in this little town. :)
  • Got my dog, Shiloh.

    Got my dog, Shiloh.
After our pure white german shepherd died (her name was Isis aw), we got a new one named Shiloh. Somewhat ironic, because in the book Shiloh, I'm pretty sure he gets killed by a german shepherd, but hey. (Shiloh turned out to be a really stupid dog).
  • Broke my left arm!

    Broke my left arm!
In 4th grade during Spring Break, I broke my first (and only) bone. I was riding down a very steep street with two neighbor friends. I guess I hit a stone or something, and the next thing I know, there were two bikes and a neighbor on top of me. I told my parents that I broke my arm but, of course, they didn't believe me. It took them an entire week until they actually took me to the hospital -.-
  • Hurricane Katrina

    Hurricane Katrina
I had never seen the aftermath of a hurricane before. What a devastating occurance.
  • Rachel cuts her hair short :( Like.. really short.

Rachel cuts her hair short :( Like.. really short.
I don't really want to talk about it. I'm still mad at 10 year old Rachel for doing this.
  • Went to Maui, Hawaii :D

    Went to Maui, Hawaii :D
Still one of my favorite vacations ever. Wow. It was lovely. I swam with sea turtles :) Also, a gecko jumped on my moms head while she was laying out. That was pretty hilaroius.
  • Obama gets elected as the first African-American president!

Obama gets elected as the first African-American president!
I didn't really care at the time, but I remember watching it on the tv during my 7th grade math class. I was just happy that we were taking a break from Algebra, yuck.
  • Had my "goth" phase. Sigh.

    Had my "goth" phase. Sigh.
Again, I don't really want to talk about it. I had at least 10 shirts with skulls on them, and every color of Hot Topic eyeliner imaginable. Seriously. Name a color. I guarantee I had it in normal AND sparkly.
  • Was a lead in my first musical :) :)

Was a lead in my first musical :) :)
The middle school did Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I was Ms. Teavee. The show was absolutely horrific. I guess that's what happens when you let Mrs. Ryskamp direct a musical on her own. But still, it was super fun, and helped me realize that theatre is what I wanted to pursue.
  • Was diagnosed with major psychotic depression.

Was diagnosed with major psychotic depression.
I guess this one's pretty serious. But three week-long mental hospital hospital visits and many meds later, I'm doing a lot better :)
  • Was in my first high school show :)

Was in my first high school show :)
It was Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream. I had a very small part, but was the understudy for Puck (lead fairy). This caused many cast members to dislike me. So that was rough but I'm still fab so it's cool man.
  • Met Spencer.

    Met Spencer.
Spencer is both my boyfriend of 14 months and my best friend in the whole world. Aw :') My best friend brought him as her date to our Junior year homecoming... but he ended up dancing with me the whole time lol whoops.
  • Got my first job!

    Got my first job!
I got my first job at a shoe store in the mall called Shi :) It was very fun and I met some awesome people. Now I know waaay more than I should about shoes.
  • Graduate High School :)

    Graduate High School :)
Well this one hasn't actually happened, but it will. I'm so excited. I have a terrible case of senioritis. I haven't done work in months. Good thing I'm already accepted into college, whew.
